High Companies host community-wide walk on National Walking Day at picturesque Greenfield Corporate Center campus
The High® companies are pleased to announce they will host a community-wide walk at Greenfield Corporate Center in support of Lighten Up Lancaster County (LULC). The organization is encouraging Lancaster County residents to get out of their chairs and start moving toward a healthier future for the American Heart Association’s National Walking Day on Wednesday, April 3.
The High companies, an active LULC member, will hold the walk at its Greenfield Corporate Center campus from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Greenfield Road exit of Route 30. High co-workers along with employees of companies throughout the business park cordially invite members of the public to visit and join in walking the picturesque grounds of Greenfield. Recommended walk routes will be well marked and suitable for all fitness levels.
Participants entering on William Penn Way can follow signs to parking and the main reception area for recommended walk routes and event-related activities.
“We’re very happy to be part of this fun event that encourages our co-workers and community members to enjoy the outdoors and build awareness of the importance of fitness and good health,” said Stephanie Reese, vice president of sales and marketing for High Hotels Ltd. and a volunteer with LULC. “We’re looking forward to an exceptional turn-out.”
On National Walking Day, Americans are encouraged to spend at least 30 minutes of their day briskly walking. The American Heart Association works with employers to make National Walking Day a workplace event by allowing employees to wear comfortable clothes and sneakers and participate in group fitness walks. For more information about National Walking Day and workplace tools, visit www.startwalkingnow.org.
Physical activity is critical to being healthy, but less than 50 percent of adults get enough daily exercise. Adults need at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week to see the health benefits of physical activity such as lower blood pressure, improved bone health, weight maintenance after weight loss, better sleep, and more energy. The American Heart Association hopes people will continue to make physical activity a priority beyond National Walking Day and find the fun in being fit.
