Lancaster Marriott Hotel & Convention Center Facility Welcomes Diverse Groups From Near and Far

The Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square and the Lancaster County Convention Center facility, Lancaster, Pa.

The Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square and Lancaster County Convention Center is a new, fully integrated, $174 million facility. Rising up behind the iconic façade, its 19-story Marriott tower rivals the height of the historic Greist Building, adding a new dimension to Lancaster’s skyline.

A public/private partnership led by Penn Square Partners and the Lancaster County Convention Center Authority, the integrated facility has already hosted many large and diverse events including conventions, conferences, consumer shows, galas, weddings, competitions, and musical showcases and is receiving high praise from proud Lancastrians and impressed visitors.

Penn Square Partners includes Penn Square General Corporation, an affiliate of High Real Estate Group and Penn Square, Ltd., an affiliate of Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. High Associates Ltd. served as the project’s master developer and High Construction Company completed the general trades work on the facility.

Offering 299 rooms and suites and 90,000 square feet of luxuriously appointed meeting and event space, including a grand exhibit hall, two elegant ballrooms, and a selection of finely appointed meeting and board rooms, the facility is expected to draw more than 150,000 new guests to Lancaster each year. The facility is an ideal setting for groups from 5 to 5,000 people. Penn Square Grille, a signature restaurant; and indoor pool; fitness center; and spa treatment services further enhance the facility’s magnificent appeal.

One of the facility’s many unique characteristics is the restored Beaux Arts façade of the former Watt & Shand Building on Penn Square—an architectural gem that had stood quiet for more than a decade as a gorgeous relic of previous chapters of the region’s history. Now it represents a brand new chapter as the face of the largest economic development project in Lancaster County’s history and another step forward in the ongoing momentum of Lancaster’s vitality and success, as well as the continued success of the entire region.

The herculean effort to see this project to fruition brought together local corporations, community groups, regional leaders and lawmakers, historical groups, volunteers, and most importantly, the people of Lancaster who have so much pride in their region—one that is steeped in unique tradition. The creation of this facility builds upon Lancaster’s legacy of hospitality which already attracts 11 million people to the region each year.

Thousands of guests and visitors will continue to be introduced to Lancaster for the first time as they attend conventions, meetings, trade shows and other gatherings at the integrated facility.
