Jeffrey Smith Appointed to Lead High Industries’ Steel, Concrete Businesses

Jeffrey D. Smith

 Mr. Jeffrey D. Smith was promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer of High Industries Inc. effective April 1, 2010. In this role, Mr. Smith is responsible for providing the leadership and overall direction to High Steel Structures Inc., High Concrete Group LLC and High Steel Service Center LLC. He will also serve as co-chair of the Executive Committee of the High® companies, along with Nevin D. Cooley, President and Chief Executive officer of High Real Estate Group LLC. Mr. Smith formerly served as Executive Vice President of High Industries.

A resident of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Mr. Smith was previously employed with CertainTeed Corporation as Vice President of Operations, Roofing Products. Mr. Smith is a graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey, where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree. He subsequently earned a Masters degree in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. Currently serving on the Board of Directors of The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Smith is a graduate of the Leadership Lancaster Executive Orientation Series.

With this transition, W. Thomas Kennedy, III, who formerly served as President and Chief Executive Officer of High Industries, has assumed the position of Executive Assistant to the Chairman, S. Dale High. In this role, Mr. Kennedy is responsible for assisting with high-level strategic initiatives and providing ongoing operational support and counsel to Mr. High and Mr. Smith.
