Since our company was founded in the midst of the Great Depression, to its stature today as a leader in diverse industries throughout the region and the nation, The High Companies history is a classic American success story.

1931
– Sanford High purchased King Welding on Lemon St., Lancaster, PA; and formed High Welding Co.

1933 – Experimental welding was put to the test near Stewartstown, PA.

1941 – High Welding Co. moved to the James and Water Streets location.

1946 – High Welding was awarded its first major project involving fabrication and erection of structural steel.  They were contracted to re-floor the Belvidere Bridge over the Delaware River.

1953 – High Welding was awarded the first sizable steel contracts that included area schools and buildings.

– High Welding relocated to Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, PA.

1956 – High Welding Company was incorporated (predecessor of High Industries, Inc.)

1963 – High Realty Company was formed (predecessor of High Associates, Ltd.)

1967 – High Welding Plant Two (80’ x 700’) was constructed and later extended 300’ in 1969.

1971 – High Welding Company changed its name to High Steel Structures, Inc.

1972 - High Steel Structures, Inc.'s Plant Two doubled in size.

1974 - Greenfield Corporate Center was developed.

1976 – High Realty Corporation, a residential brokerage firm, was formed.

1977 - High Industries, Inc. was relocated to 1905 Old Philadelphia Pike.

1977 – High Industries acquired Kurtz Materials Corp., including Kurtz Precast Corp. (predecessor of High Concrete Structures, Inc.)

1978 – High Industries, Inc. acquired Lantz Builders, Inc. (predecessor of High Construction, Inc.)

1978 – High Steel Service Center, Inc. opened on Manheim Pike in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

1980 – High Associates, Ltd., Industrial/Commercial Realtor, was formed.

1982 - Greenfield Estates Residential Community was completed.

1982 – Formigli Corp. was acquired (predecessor of High Concrete Structures, Inc. of New Jersey). 

1983 – High Industries, Inc. entered the cable television systems industry (predecessor of High Cablevision, in 1987).

1984 – High Investors, Ltd., an Affiliated Company, was formed.

1985 - Property in Parkland Center was purchased in Sarasota, Florida.

1985 – Williamsport Fabricators, Inc. was purchased as a High Steel Structures facility.

1986 – The addition of a paint facility for High Steel Structures, Inc.

1986 - High Construction introduces architectural design as a part of their services (predecessor to Greenfield Architects).

1987 - Rossmoyne Business Center property was purchased in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

1987 – High Food Services, Ltd. and High Employee Services, Ltd. were established as Affiliated Companies.

1988 - Bentley Ridge Residential Community was established.

1988 – High Hotels, Ltd. was formed as an Affiliated Company.

1988 – High Industries, Inc. moved to Greenfield Corporate Center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

1989 - Highlands Corporate Center was started in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

1989 - High Hotels, Ltd. opened a new Hampton Inn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

1990 – High Hotels, Ltd. opened a new Hampton Inn in Harrisburg (West), Pennsylvania.

1990 - Greenfield Architects, Ltd. was formed as an Affiliated Company.

1992 – High Hotels, Ltd. opened a new Hampton Inn in York, Pennsylvania.

1994 – High Hotels, Ltd. acquired and opened the Hampton Inn in Reading, Pennsylvania.

1995 – High Hotels, Ltd. opened a new Homewood Suites in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

1997 – A Concrete Tee production building was constructed for High Concrete Structures.

1997 - High Hotels, Ltd. opened a new Hampton Inn and Suites in Annapolis, Maryland.

1997 - High Employee Services, Lancaster, relocated to 525 Greenfield Road.

1997 – High Safety Consulting Services, Ltd., an Affiliate of High Industries, was formed.

1998 – High Employee Services, Ltd. opened a fourth office at 3002 Hempland Road in Lancaster.

1998 – High Food Services, Ltd. opened a branch in Hanover, Pennsylvania.

1999 – High Hotels, Ltd. opened a Homewood Suites in Reading, Pennsylvania and a Hampton Inn in Middletown, New York.

1999 – Construction of a Batch Plant and an Architectural Building started for High Concrete Structures, Inc.

1999 – Construction of an addition started at High Steel Structures, Inc. in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

2000 - Paint Bay and Fabrication facilities were completed at High Steel Structures, Inc.

- High Industries celebrated its 70th anniversary, re-purchased the company's original home (right) and was honored as one of the "100 Best Places To Work" in Pennsylvania.

2001 - Construction of lunchroom, locker room, and plant office facility started at High Concrete Structures, Inc.

2003 - High Hotels, Ltd. opened the Hilton Garden Inn in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and a Courtyard by Marriott in Middletown, New York.

2003 - The Bay Five addition at High Steel Service Center, Inc. was completed.

2004 - Concrete Technology, Inc. was acquired (predecessor of High Concrete Technology, LLC).

2005 - High Associates, Ltd. completed Orchard Ridge, a luxury apartment and townhome community in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.

2005 - High Hotels, Ltd. opened its 11th hotel, a Courtyard by Marriott in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
